Home Tuition Rates in Singapore 2026

13 October 2026 · Tutor Circle

Home tuition in Singapore is priced by the hour. In Tutor Circle’s October 2026 assignments, a part-time tutor is commonly $25–35 an hour at P1 to P4 and $35–45 an hour at Sec 3. An ex-MOE teacher at the same levels is commonly $55–70 and $65–95. The table below is that assignment data, split by level and tutor type.

The rate is agreed with the tutor before the first lesson. Parents pay the tutor. Tutor Circle does not add a parent agency fee.

The numbers are Tutor Circle’s own bands, the ones already published from assignment matching on the tuition fee page. They are not copied from another agency. P1 to P4 share the lower-primary band, because the assignments were not priced as a different product for each year. P5 and P6 use the upper-primary band. Sec 1 and Sec 2 use the lower-secondary band. Sec 3 uses the upper-secondary band, which is where A Math and pure science cases sit. [1]

Within P1 to P4, a P1 reading case more often closes near $25–30. A P4 problem-sum case more often closes near the top of the same $25–35 part-time band. Sec 3 is wider because the subject, not just the year, moves the quote.

The bar is the top of the P6 range in Table 1, so the four types can be compared on one scale. A quoted rate can sit anywhere inside the range.

What the four tutor types mean

  • Student: still in JC, polytechnic or university. Often the right fit for a child who needs a patient weekly session and homework finished properly.
  • Part-time: teaches alongside another job, or has graduated and tutors some evenings. This is the largest group in the assignments, so the band is the one most families actually agree.
  • Full-time: tuition is the main work. More weekday daytime slots, and usually a fuller set of worksheets.
  • Ex-MOE: a current or former MOE school teacher. The higher rate is for someone who has taught the syllabus in school. A current teacher may only be free after school duties.

Online lessons use the same bands. A tutor who does not travel can quote toward the lower half. Travel, a scarce subject, or a request for a named school’s worksheets can move a quote up inside the band. It should not jump to a different band without a reason you can see on the profile.

What a month actually costs

A tutor and a boy writing together at a kitchen table in the evening
The usual lesson in these assignments is 1.5 hours, once a week. The monthly figure is that hour times four.

Centres advertise a monthly fee. Home tuition is an hourly rate, so the month is arithmetic. The usual lesson in these assignments is 1.5 hours, once a week, which is four lessons in a typical month. Six lessons in a five-week month is the figure to ask about before you budget.

Table 2. Four lessons of 1.5 hours. Monthly figure = hourly rate × 1.5 × 4.
CaseHourlyOne month
P6, part-time$30–40$180–240
P6, ex-MOE$60–85$360–510
Sec 1, part-time$30–40$180–240
Sec 3, part-time$35–45$210–270
Sec 3, ex-MOE$65–95$390–570

Two subjects with two tutors is about double. One tutor who takes both subjects quotes each subject, and some will do a longer single sitting. Ask for that before you assume you must pay two full bands. A centre’s monthly fee can look lower until you divide it by the hours your child actually gets with the teacher. That comparison is on the home tuition versus tuition centre page. [2]

Which rate is worth paying

Pay for the gap, not the title

A P3 child who needs tables and a calm reading routine is often well served at the student or part-time rate. A P6 child whose problem sums collapse under time, or a Sec 3 student starting A Math, is where families in these assignments move toward a full-time tutor or an ex-MOE teacher. The expensive mistake is hiring the dearest tutor for a gap that is really “homework is not finished,” and hiring the cheapest tutor for a gap that is “the new topic was never understood.”

Name the budget on the request. Coordinators match inside it. If the budget only reaches a student tutor and the subject is A Math, say so. You will get an honest reply about whether that profile exists, instead of a quote that ignores the number you can pay.

Questions parents ask

How much is home tuition per hour in Singapore?

In Tutor Circle’s October 2026 assignment bands, a part-time tutor is $25–35 an hour for P1 to P4, $30–40 for P5 and P6, $30–40 for Sec 1 and Sec 2, and $35–45 for Sec 3. Full-time tutors and ex-MOE teachers sit higher. A student tutor is usually matched in the lower part of the part-time band. These are ranges, not a fixed price.

How much do ex-MOE tutors charge?

Current or former MOE school teachers in the same 2026 bands are $55–70 an hour for P1 to P4, $60–85 for P5 and P6, $60–85 for Sec 1 and Sec 2, and $65–95 for Sec 3. The rate is agreed with the tutor. A teacher who is still in a school may have fewer evening slots than a full-time tutor.

Is a student tutor cheaper than a part-time tutor?

Usually, yes. In these assignments, tutors who were still in JC, polytechnic or university were matched at the lower portion of the part-time band: about $25–30 for P1 to P4, $30–35 for P5 to Sec 2, and $35–40 for Sec 3. The part-time column is the full band, which also includes working adults.

How much is tuition a month?

Multiply the hourly rate by the lesson length and by four weekly lessons. A P6 part-time tutor at $30–40 an hour, for 1.5 hours a week, is about $180–240 a month. The same length with an ex-MOE teacher at $60–85 an hour is about $360–510. A second subject is a second set of lessons unless one tutor teaches both.

Does Tutor Circle add an agency fee for parents?

No. Parents pay the tutor for lessons conducted. The hourly rate in the table is the tutor’s rate. Confirm lesson length, travel and the payment day before the first lesson. The request form is at tutorcircle.sg/application/1.
