School holidays in 2026, for MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools, are 14 to 22 March, 30 May to 28 June, 5 to 13 September, and 21 November to 31 December. The year starts on Friday, 2 January 2026 and ends on Friday, 20 November 2026. The 2027 dates are a different release.

Schools used as venues for the GCE O-Level written examinations end the final term on Friday, 23 October 2026. That is earlier than 20 November. Primary schools keep the 20 November end. [1]

Next year’s breaks move by about a day. The 2027 June holiday starts on 29 May, and the year starts on 4 January. Those dates are on the MOE school holidays 2027 page.
One-day school holidays
Three scheduled school holidays sit on top of the public holiday list. [1]
- Youth Day is Sunday, 5 July. Monday, 6 July is a school holiday, inside Term 3.
- Teachers’ Day is Friday, 4 September. MOE lists that Friday as the last day of Term 3 and as a school holiday. The September break starts on Saturday, 5 September.
- Children’s Day is Friday, 2 October, for primary schools and primary sections of full schools. It is inside Term 4. Secondary students do not get this day from the MOE list.
National Day in 2026 is Sunday, 9 August. The public holiday is Monday, 10 August. There is no extra “day after” school holiday of the kind 2027 has, because the Monday is already the public holiday. [3]

Centres that do not follow this table
MOE Kindergartens use these dates. An ECDA infant care or childcare centre publishes its own closures. The age bands and subsidies are on the infant care page. International schools do not use this calendar. On a designated off-in-lieu day, MOE says the general office, student care and KCare are closed, so a working parent needs a plan for that Monday. [1]
September, the PSLE, and June
The September break is nine days at the start of the month. Term 4 begins on 14 September. SEAB publishes the PSLE timetable separately. A holiday booked from an old blog’s exam week is how families miss an oral or a written paper.

When are the school holidays in 2026?
For MOE kindergartens, primary schools and secondary schools, the breaks are 14 to 22 March, 30 May to 28 June, 5 to 13 September, and 21 November to 31 December 2026. One-day school holidays inside the terms are Monday 6 July after Youth Day, Friday 4 September for Teachers’ Day, and Friday 2 October for Children’s Day in primary schools.
When does school start and end in 2026?
The year starts on Friday, 2 January 2026 and ends on Friday, 20 November 2026. Primary 1 and Kindergarten 1 start on 2 January. Primary 2 to 6 and Kindergarten 2 start on Monday, 5 January. Schools used as GCE O-Level written examination venues end the final term on Friday, 23 October 2026.
Is 23 March 2026 a school day?
MOE lists Term 2 as starting on Monday, 23 March 2026, and also names that Monday as a designated day off-in-lieu because Hari Raya Puasa falls on Saturday, 21 March. Schools, including the general office, student care and KCare, are closed on 23 March. The first day with lessons is the next school day.
Is Deepavali a day off school in 2026?
Deepavali is Sunday, 8 November 2026. Monday, 9 November is the public holiday, and it falls inside Term 4, so school is closed that Monday. The festival day itself is a Sunday.
Does the September holiday come after the PSLE?
The September break in 2026 is Saturday 5 September to Sunday 13 September. Term 4 starts on Monday, 14 September. PSLE dates are on SEAB’s examination calendar for 2026. Check that calendar before booking the last week of September. The PSLE page explains how the score is built.
